No Power

Likely Cause: Truck not on, computer not securely seated

  • Truck must be running and truck computer securely seated in docking station.
  • If using truck computer outside truck, batteries must be charged. Plug in external power supply and turn on.
  • If truck computer will not boot to Windows, contact a local IT professional.

Screen Dims while in Docking Station

Likely Cause: Insufficient power

  • If a Battery icon (bottom right), no power to Truck computer through docking station. See Docking Station
  • Truck computer must be securely seated in docking station.
  • Lind Power Supply – Green light (right side) must be on. Two plugs must be firmly in place and 15a fuse not blown.
  • Charge Guard – Green light must be on. If flashing, voltage is too low or high. Refer to the Charge Guard section.
  • FP601 – With ED1075/ED1010, green light on ED1075 must be on. If not, refer to the FP601 section

Not Communicating with Meter

Likely Cause: Insufficient power or connectivity

Check for the following:

  1. Truck must be running and truck computer securely seated in docking station.
  2. If a battery icon, power is not going to truck computer through docking station. See Docking Station section.
  3. From the main screen, go to Utilities / Test Hardware / Meter Type. Choose Get Totalizer. If there is a reading, verify correct truck when starting shift. If a reading is not received, continue to next step.
  4. Turn power off to truck for a few minutes to allow the register to fully reset, then turn back on.
  5. On the LCR meter, be sure the LCRSetup program is set properly as follows:
    1. Insert truck computer in docking station and power to truck. Right-click Start and select File Explorer. Go to My Computer then to c:\utils\LCR Setup.exe.
    2. Verify the following settings:
      • Port NameCOM
      • TX Enable!RTS
      • Baud19200
      • Retries2
      • Baud SearchNo
      • Timeout200
      • CPU SpeedDefault
      • Test Node1, 2, or 250 (depending on register number)
    3. Select Test (should show Test Node responded successfully).
  6. Charge Guard (little yellow box in cab usually under driver/passenger seat) must have steady green light. Refer to Onsite # Switch. If flashing, voltage is too low or high. Refer to the Charge Guard section.
  7. FP601 with ED1075/ED1010, the green light on ED1075 must be on. If not, refer to the Power section.
  8. Check all wiring in cab of the truck and ensure cables are connected.
  9. If Truck computer still does not query the register, contact a local onsite administrator.

LC Meter will not Reset to 0.00

Likely Cause: Does not recognize last meter block

  • Must recognize last meter block printed. Turn red knob to Stop and Print. Check if register receipt prints in cab.
  • Verify printer in cab has two steady green lights. If Ready light is red, ensure the paper latch is pressed. If the red light remains on, it may not be getting enough power. If so, proceed to next step.
  • Turn power off to truck for at least three minutes to allow register and printer to fully reset. Turn power back on to truck and then turn the red knob on register to Stop then Print. Verify the register receipt printed.
  • After register receipt has printed, turn knob to Run and verify that it resets to exactly 0.00.

Truck Computer Letters/Numbers not Working/CFU1

Likely Cause: Function keys initiated or locked

  • Truck computer keyboard in bottom corners are light buttons under Ctrl, Alt, Fn, Shift. If on, turn off.
  • The keyboard may be locked. Press Fn+D on keyboard to unlock.

Screen Blank or Gray

Likely Cause: Abnormal termination

  • If the main menu of EnergyTrack disappears with only a gray screen, the session has ended abnormally. To correct, press the App 3 button on Truck computer, select EnergyTrack, then End Task.
  • Re-launch EnergyTrack by pressing the App 1 button.
  • If unresolved, there may be corrupt/damaged EnergyTrack data on Truck computer. See Fatal Error #2

Power or Connections not Working

Likely Cause: Push override and test buttons

  • Remove black rubber cover from unit.
  • Push and release round black button above the red timer switches. This will power the unit for the time period specified by the timer switches.
  • Holding the Test button for more than three seconds will turn off the Auto Shut Off timer.
  • If engine is running or active signal present at IGN terminal, temporarily disables unit until button is released. 

Cannot Use On-Screen Keyboard

Likely Cause: Application 4 button

  • Press the Application button that opens the on-screen keyboard.
  • Verify which Application button opens the keyboard. Go to Start / AII Programs / Panasonic / Application Button Settings. This will show which Application button is set to open the keyboard.

Cannot Increase Right-Click Button

  • Go to Start / Control Panel / Touch Panel.
  • Select the Right Button Simulation tab.
  • Select Display the icon in Window option. This displays the Right-Click Mouse button on the truck computer screen.

Cannot Zoom In and Out

  • Truck computer screen left side Magnifying Glass with + (plus) sign to zoom in and - (minus) sign to zoom out.

Truck Computer will not Turn Off

Likely Cause: Power button malfunction

  • Select Start in lower left corner of screen. Choose Shut Down and press OK to confirm.
  • When truck computer is locked and will not shut down, press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to power off.

Cannot Turn Lights On On Keyboard

  • Press FN+Z.

Printers

Blank Pages Print after Invoice

Likely Cause: Page size incorrect, inserted improperly

  • Black bar must be on the bottom of the paper as it comes out of the printer (if on top, flip over).
  • If the roll of paper in the printer was recently changed, it may be necessary to calibrate. Go to Start / Devices and Printers. Right-click Cognitive Advantage 4inch2 and choose Printer Preferences. Select the Advanced Setup tab at the top then More Settings. Select Calibrate, wait 10 seconds, then turn the printer off and back on.
  • Printer must be set up to read the black bar on the back side of the paper.
    1. Locate the printer in Devices and Printers in the Control Panel.
    2. Right-click the printer and choose Printer preferences.
    3. Select Inch under Paper Format.
    4. Choose Portrait under Orientation but do not check the Rotate by 180 degrees option.
    5. Set the Width to 4.33.
    6. Set the Height to 8.25 (4Inch2 printer) or 6.25 (4Inch printer).
    7. For the 4Inch2 printer, set the Unprintable Area to 0.00 for all except Left which should be 0.23. For the 4Inch printer, set all to 0.00 except for Right which should be 0.23.
    8. On the Advanced tab, choose Direct Thermal for the 4Inch2 printer or Black Bar for the 4Inch printer.
    9. Save by selecting OK.
  • Perform a hard reset of the Blaster Printer by doing the following:
    1. Power off the printer with the switch on the side.
    2. Press and hold the Feed button on the front of the printer and turn the printer on while still holding the Feed button.
    3. Once the calibration ticket starts printing, release the Feed button and turn the printer off.
    4. Power the printer back on.
  • If steps above do not work, uninstall and reinstall printers (if still not working, try a new printer).

Will not Print from Truck Computer

Likely Cause: Lack of power or connectivity

  1. Truck must be running.
  2. If moved to a different truck, the USB port number could be different. Go to Start / Devices and Printers, right-click Cognitive Advantage 4inch2, and select Printer properties
  3. Choose the Ports tab at the top and check for a new USB port. Place a checkmark in new USB port and select OK
  4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for Cognitive Advantage 4inch printer. Once completed, remove the truck computer from the cradle for 10 seconds and place back in the cradle.
  5. If Charge Guard green light is flashing, voltage is too low or high. See Charge Guard section.
  6. FP601 with ED1075/ED1010 – If green light is off on ED1010, there is no power to printer. Both lights on printer front must be green. If not, turn printer off/on. If both lights are not green, see Step 7.
  7. Clamp that holds paper down must be securely latched. Open the lid of the printer and firmly press down on both sides of the clamp. It will click when securely locked.
  8. Print job may be stuck in print queue showing an error.
    1. Go to Start / Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click the Cognitive Advantage 4inch icon.
    3. Select See what's printing.
    4. If there is a print job with an error, right-click that job and select Cancel Document.
    5. Repeat these steps for the Cognitive Advantage 4Inch2 printer.
  9. If not resolved, contact Support for further assistance.

Will not Print from Meter Stub/Block

Likely Cause: Truck not running, lack of power or connectivity

  • Charge Guard – If the green light is flashing, voltage to Charge Guard is too low or high. See Charge Guard section.
  • FP601 with ED1075/ED1010 – If the green light on ED1010 is not on, refer to the Power section.
  • Both lights on printer front must be green. If not, turn printer off then on. If both lights are not green, see below.
  • Clamp that holds paper down must be securely latched. Open the lid of the printer and firmly press down on both sides of the clamp. It will click when securely locked.
  • Verify the meter printer cable is securely connected at both ends.
    • LCR meter – If last meter stub/block did not print, move switch to Stop and back to Print.
  • Verify meter is set to print to a Blaster Printer.

Reprinted Tickets Display too Small Font

Likely Cause: Adobe Reader need modified

  • Go to C:\Ctls93\DD85\Data\Images (if not familiar, please check with an IT professional or Support person).
  • Open any file that starts with HHI (should open in Adobe Reader) and select Print icon (upper left corner).
  • Under Page Scaling, make sure that it is either set to None or Actual Size.
  • Set the Orientation to Portrait, Auto Rotate and Center NOT checked
  • Select OK at the lower right of the printer window in order for the changes to apply (will be actual size now).

Print is Jumbled

Likely Cause: Reset Printer, paper out of alignment

  1. Unplug USB to parallel cable located on back of printer then plug back in.
  2. Make sure paper is properly lined up by:
    1. Open printer cover, press release latch and line paper up evenly with roller bar.
    2. Press latch back down and push Feed button to feed paper to next perforation.
  3. Reset the printer
    1. Turn printer off (make sure all the lights off).
    2. Press and hold the Feed button and turn printer on while still holding the Feed button.
    3. As soon as the printer starts to print, release the Feed button and turn printer off.
  4. Turn printer back on.

Power Supply: Charge Guard

Intermittent Green Light

Likely Cause: Insufficient power

  • Check for loose connections on unit by making sure all terminal screws are tight with no loose wires.
  • Check fuses from battery into the BAT terminal on unit. and from ignition source into the IGN terminal on the unit.
  • Check voltage going into unit.
    1. Remove black rubber cover from face of unit.
    2. If switch is IGN, check voltage at IGN terminal on unit. Must be constant 11v going to unit to power.
    3. If switch is DC, check voltage at BAT terminal on unit. Constant 11v is required.
  • Check voltage to unit with other power sources turned on in vehicle.
    1. Turn on radio, wipers, a/c, heater, etc. to be sure there is no loss of power from other accessories.
    2. If unit is in DC mode and voltage drops below minimum requirements with other accessories on, then a possible battery replacement may be necessary.
    3. If unit is in IGN mode and voltage drops below minimum requirements, evaluate the condition and output of the alternator. Possible replacement may be necessary.

Flashing Green Light

Likely Cause: Timer is counting

  • Normal if on at initial start of vehicle.
  • If light is blinking after initial startup, the unit has insufficient power and will begin the Auto Shut Off timer.

Four Red Flashing Lights

Likely Cause: High voltage exceeding 18 volts

  • Unit will automatically shut off if voltage exceeds 18v.

Two Red Flashing Lights

Likely Cause: Low voltage

  • Check battery and ignition source voltage.

Power Supply: FP601

Power or Connections not Working

Likely Cause: Push Override and Test buttons

  • The ignition must be turned on in order for power to reach the equipment.
  • Check for any loose connections in the wiring for the equipment.
  • ED1075/ED1010 – Power coming in and out must be 12-14V range. If not, check fuses on the inside of FP601.
  • Be sure all power connections are properly grounded using a chassis ground.

Docking Station

No Power to Docking Station

Likely Cause: Power loss

  • The ignition must be turned on in order for power to reach the docking station.
  • Charge Guard  If green light flashing, voltage is either too low or high. Refer to the Charge Guard section.
  • Lind Power Supply – If green light on the right side not on, verify that two plugs on the side are firmly in place. Also, verify that the 15amp fuse has not blown.
  • FP601 ED1075/ED1010, If green light on the ED1075 not on, refer to the Power section.

Intermittent Cradle Connectivity

Likely Cause: Hardware issues or out-of-date drivers

  • Check for updated drivers by running the windows update program while Truck computer is in the cradle and power is on to the equipment. This allows Windows to search for any updated drivers for any attached devices.
  • Be sure that power is constant through the truck.
